Ayden Boyd

Ayden Boyd was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August. He underwent surgery on 9/11 to remove his thyroid. The Drs thought they got it all, as we all hoped. At his post op appointment they told his family it had spread to his lymph nodes, microscopically. We still foolishly thought it was okay. In October he underwent radioactive iodine treatment And had a whole body scan. The scan came back that the 4 “spots” were gone but a collection of cells remained at the surgical site. Still his family thought, everything will be fine.
Fast forward to January. Ayden had some “questionable” blood work. There should be no thyroid cells and now there was 11. With no thyroid you can’t have thyroid cells.
On 2/14 he had a few scans and tests. They came back with three major questionable areas. He will have a biopsy on 3/9 to see what is cancer and what is not. Surgery will be on 3/21. The problem with this whole thing is thyroid cancer is extremely rare in children.

Ayden has been a Havre de Grace Warriors Junior Wrestler for the last few years.  He and his family have been very active in our Wrestling Family as participants and volunteers both with our Junior League program and with our High School program where his brother Chris wrestles.  Ayden is such a caring teammate and is always there to support his team, even when he is not wrestling.  He is selfless, and is ALL HEART.  

His medical bills are overwhelming, and as his community we would like to help his family offset some of the costs.
