Gaudy sueña con pasar Año Nuevo junto a su mamá

English below – Mi nombre es Gaudy Martínez y hace 3 años, cuando decidí emigrar de Venezuela en busca de mejores oportunidades para mi familia y para mí, uno de mis temores era que esta foto con mis padres no volvería a repetirse.

El año pasado eso se convirtió en una realidad cuando mi papá falleció.

Lo que había podido ahorrar hasta ese momento no me permitió viajar de Argentina –donde resido- a Venezuela, y mientras impulsaba mi emprendimiento y tenía dos trabajos remotos, llegó la pandemia y con ella, una serie de dificultades económicas que he podido sobrellevar con la ayuda de mi pareja.

Si me conoces, sabes que mi mamá, Aracelis, es el motor de mi vida. Soy quien soy y he logrado mucho en mi vida gracias a ella.

Las llamadas y videollamadas de 1 hora diarias ya se nos hacen cortas. Se me hace corto no poder acompañarla y ayudarla a cuidar a mi tía de 83 años que padece de Alzheimer, después de haber cuidado de mi papá en su enfermedad durante varios años. Se me hace corto no poder estar con ella luego de este período tan difícil.

Esta situación me puso de frente con mi más grande miedo: no poder volver a ver a mi mamá. El miedo me llevó a la ansiedad y a pensamientos de culpa muchas veces durante este año.

Pero finalmente, con la flexibilización de algunos vuelos de entrada a Venezuela, empiezo a ver con mucha esperanza la posibilidad de pasar este año nuevo junto a ella. 

La ruta directa Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia)-Caracas para el 27/28 de diciembre es la opción más cercana para viajar a Venezuela desde Argentina. Cuento con los fondos para el pasaje hasta Santa Cruz y pido tu ayuda para:

- Completar los gastos del pasaje Santa Cruz de la Sierra-Caracas (U$D 640 - £ 478).

- PCR previo al viaje Santa Cruz de la Sierra-Caracas (U$D 50 – £ 37)

- Comprar medicinas y pañales de adultos mayores (U$D 250 - £ 186).

- Comprar comida para llevarle a mi familia (U$D 200 - £ 149).

Hago esta petición pensando en todos mis amigos/as que han perdido a sus padres y en todas las personas que piden ayuda para tratamientos médicos. Conecto profundamente con ellos/as y sus peticiones.

También conecto con las iniciativas sociales, con los deseos y los sueños que están acá. Y mi sueño más grande en este momento es volver a pasar un diciembre con mi mamá y mi familia.

A pesar del miedo que siento de exponer acá mi situación y pedir apoyo, mi deseo de volver a ver a mi mamá es más grande que mis inseguridades y me da valentía.

Gaudy dreams of spending New Year's day with her mother.

My name is Gaudy Martinez and 3 years ago, when I decided to emigrate from Venezuela looking for better opportunities for my family and myself, one of my fears was that this photo with my parents would not be repeated.

Last year that became a reality when my dad passed away.

What I had been able to save up to that moment didn’t allow me to travel from Argentina - where I live - to Venezuela, and while I was launching my own business and had two remote jobs, the pandemic arrived and with it, a series of economic difficulties that I have been able to overcome with the help of my partner.

If you know me, you know that my mother, Aracelis, is the engine of my life. I am who I am and I have achieved a lot in my life thanks to her.

The calls and video calls of 1 hour a day fall short. I fall short by not being able to accompany her and help her take care of my 83-year-old aunt who suffers from Alzheimer's, after having taken care of my father in his illness for several years. I fall short by not being able to be with her after this difficult period.

This situation put me in front of my biggest fear: not being able to see my mother again. Fear led me to anxiety and guilty thoughts many times this year.

But finally, with the flexibilization of some incoming flights to Venezuela, I am beginning to see with great hope the possibility of spending this Holidays with her.

The direct route Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) - Caracas for December 27/28th is the closest option to travel to Venezuela from Argentina. I have the funds for the passage to Santa Cruz and I ask for your help to:

Despite the fear I feel of exposing my situation here and asking for support, my desire to see my mother again is greater than my insecurities and it gives me courage.
