How would you describe Stacey? Organized. Energetic. Passionate. Loving. Kind. The list goes on and on. One word that inevitably comes to mind is Competitive. If you know anything about Stacey, she is up for the challenge, and will not relent until her goal is met.

Today, Stacey faces the challenge of a lifetime. Friday, July 28th 2017, Stacey was admitted into Parker Adventist Hospital, in Parker, CO with what the doctors had determined was a mass in her brain. CT and MRI confirmed the mass was indeed a Glioblastoma. Doctors determined an aggressive approach was needed and surgery was scheduled for Sunday morning, July 30th. In usual Stacey fashion, she was positive and peaceful. “Catch you on the flip side,” she said, as they wheeled her toward the operating room. NO FEAR.

During surgery, the doctor was able to remove a good portion of the tumor from her left frontal lobe, as well as the portion that had migrated across the midline to the right. After surgery, she was able to say her name and recognize Rick and the kids. She was taken to the ICU, where she is receiving the best of care. We wanted to set up this YouCaring page for two reasons: One, to keep the friends and family who so dearly love Stacey informed of her progress, the good, the bad and the ugly. And two, for you to communicate your love and support to Stacey and her family. The storms we face in life are much easier when faced with those we love, with those who we know have our back, and can catch us when we fall and get us back up again. So, please, post your thoughts, your prayers, your memories. Stacey will need them all. She is facing a nasty competitor. In our hearts, we know that she has said, “Challenge accepted. Be prepared to go down.”

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, your prayers are coveted. We know the power of prayer- for comfort, peace and healing. She survives daily with your love, your prayers, and your positive support. We cannot begin to thank you. We are blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing community of people. God Bless, Stacey, Rick, Quinn and Kelly VandeKoppel
