Axwell’s Vet Bills

My 12yo Pomeranian, Axwell, has had a rough few months and we're asking for help to pay for testing and treatment costs.

On March 17th Axwell was diagnosed with a respiratory infection and an upper spinal injury that older Poms are prone to. He's being treated with antibiotics and 8 weeks of extended rest. No more Pomeranian furniture parkour (which is a challenge!)

His initial blood work and urine testing were within normal range. While great news, that ruled out suspected senior diabetes and he needs more testing to get a diagnosis for his symptoms. He's had trouble with shaking, fevers, not wanting to drink water, and too frequent urination which means we're up several times in the middle of the night. I'm keeping him hydrated with water and electrolytes via syringe and, thankfully, he loves cucumbers.

His vet brought up the possibility of Cushing’s disease, which has similar symptoms to diabetes. Cushing’s is a serious hormone condition where too much cortisone is being produced which impacts organs and causes infections.

To rule out other possible illnesses before testing for Cushing's, Axwell is scheduled for x-rays on April 6th to check for tumors or internal abnormalities. As well as urine culture testing to check white blood cells and for bacteria.

Despite his health problems, Axwell is doing great for a senior dog. His heart is very healthy, overall he’s in great shape for his age, and he still has energy spurts to run zoomies. Axwell means the world to me and he's been by my side nearly everyday since I adopted him as a 6 month old rescue pup. I need help to get answers so he can receive the best care in his remaining years.
