Axel's Knee Surgery

Donation protected
Hey guys! My name is Chrystal and my dog's name is Axel. If you know me you know Axel, as he is my right hand man and with me wherever I go. On Monday February 5, 2018 Axel tore his knee. Axel was getting up off of his bed and moved the wrong way and boom it all started there. We of course took him to the vet where my good friend DR. Bell informed us that Axel has what's called the rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament. In order to fix this he has to have tibial plateau leveling osteotomy surgery (TPLO). As you can imagine my heart sank as soon as I heard my fear come true. Over the past few days I have had to take a long hard look at everything and make a decision to put Axel down or have the surgery (I refuse to watch any of my animals live in pain for my selfish needs of wanting them to stick around). I wanted to make the best decision for Axel first and myself second. With all of my personal feeling aside I had to think about his quality of life, the pain he will be in, the success rates of surgery, what will his life be like after surgery, how long is the recovery process, what is the recovery process, and so much more. Axel turned 6 years old on January 1st and has so much more life in him. After watching him for a few days he is just telling me he's not ready to go not over a busted knee. I owe it to him to give this my best shot and take care of him in anyway I can and learn from this situation. I apologies for asking for help in advance and its something I try not to do unless I really need it. I know $4,500 seems like a lot to spend on knee surgery for a dog but I promise if you help me do this I will do my best and pay if forward one day when I am able to. I believe that everything happens for a reason and this is supposed to teach me something. If I can raise the money and have the surgery done I will start a page where everyone can watch Axle's recovery and his life after surgery. His primary vet clinic is White Oak Animal Hospital where he was first diagnosed. The clinic where he will have the surgery is Virginia Veterinary Centers Emergency & Specialty and the surgeon is Dr. Broaddus. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I have done a lot of research and I have amazing friends and Vet clinics here to help me if I don't know the answers. One of the reason's I am deciding to do the surgery is due to the fact that there are no health issues with Axel. We had a blood test done and he is healthy his organs function fine, there's no cancer, and he just has a busted knee. Thank You in advance for helping Axel and I whether it is by donating or sharing.

Love You All
