This is my grandson, he is 13. At the age of five he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and life has been tough. He was later diagnosed with ADD when school proved to be a struggle. Then, he began mumbling, complaining of headaches, and vomiting. Drs. shrugged it off saying he was seeking attention and avoiding unpleasant situations, including school work. Drs. tried switching medications, but to no avail. He was then diagnosed as being autistic. At times, he would fall and not want to get up. People began to get aggravated with him. His school said he was becoming a liability and they needed doctors to say that he was ok. My daughter took him to the E.R. ..... once again. At first they thought he was fine, but then one resident Dr. noticed that one pupil did not react correctly and he was admitted. At 4am on Sept. 12, 2017 an MRI was done. It showed a massive tumor in the center of his brain which was blocking the normal flow of fluids. Emergency surgery took place a day later (Sept 14). Then today (Sept 15), another 4am MRI, revealed a large blood clot and he was rushed back into surgery.
He is sleeping now, and is expected to be here at least a week. Another surgery may follow for a shunt. It's going to be a long road. He will not return to school for at least a month and will have many doctor's appointments.
So here's the concern : He lives with his mother, her boyfriend, and his 7yr old sister. While he, the boyfriend/stepfather maintains a good full time job, my daughter has been unable to, due to doctor appointments and school situations regarding her son. She managed to pick up some regular babysitting jobs, making maybe $250-$300  most weeks. They rent a small place and usually get by.....usually. Now, she needs to be with her son, cannot babysit, and income is affected.  Her car needs work, too.  Please help.  Every bit is appreciated.
