As we have all witnessed through extensive media coverage over the past weekend, the destructive winds and rains of Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut) have immensely devastated several areas in Luzon. The gale force winds demolished houses, uprooted trees, destroyed crops, and brought down power lines in Cagayan Valley.
It is very unfortunate that our hometown, Lasam, suffered heavily the consequences of Typhoon Ompong. The Saint Isidore Parish Church in Centro was not spared from the devastating effects on the typhoon. It is currently in ruins and in need of major repairs. It is in view of this that I am now appealing to your kind and generous hearts to help Lasameños recover by donating to the reconstruction efforts for our Parish Church. Your financial support will boost the morale of Lasameños, especially when they see that the Church, their source of comfort and strength, is being rebuilt. We would greatly appreciate any monetary donation you can make and we, on our end, shall be transparent as to the donation and the recipients of the same.
