Keep Shakespeare Weird, Till Birnam Wood

Donation protected
This is Shakespeare’s 450th birthday year and audiences everywhere will be seeing a lot of the Bard. So why do it? Why another production?

My first experience with Shakespeare, like many my age, was Baz Lurman’s Romeo and Juliet. It was a unique and somewhat groundbreaking take on the beloved tragedy. Lurman used the original language, but retooled the context along with some creative textual cutting to appeal to a modern audience. In doing so, he opened up Shakespeare for another generation while rescuing the Bard from the required reading hell of tenth grade English classes everywhere.

Till Birnam Wood… is a stripped down, fast paced, and immersive imagining of Macbeth. The AUDIENCE is BLINDFOLDED, yup, BLINDFOLDED and experiences the story purely through language, sound and the sound of Shakespeare’s original language. Till Birnam Wood… will be a nightmare realized, promising a goose bump inducing ride.

Audience members will embrace the darkness, and hopefully gain a fresh appreciation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
