Save The Foundry

Due to Berkshire County’s current high rate of Covid-19 transmission and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, The Foundry is rescheduling our January shows out of an abundance of caution. We have a beautiful line up of events from February forward (please visit thefoundryws.com to see!) and will reevaluate circumstances mid-January. Shutting down for the coming month is a huge financial hardship, but a responsible move to action for everyone’s safety. This dire moment has made it necessary to launch a Go Fund Me for the venue to keep us from permanently closing.

 

As we approach another winter of pandemic uncertainty, we are being sued by an abutter for a prescriptive easement to a road we own on our property. Though we have made an offer to the town of West Stockbridge for an easement to create a public way on the road in perpetuity, to date we face legal fees in excess of $10,000.00. We have faith that this situation will eventually be resolved and will benefit the entire town, but the financial burden is threatening our future.

 

Due to severe sound restrictions placed upon us by our recent Special Permit, our outdoor summer programming was forced inside at the beginning of September which prompted artists to cancel bookings and patrons to ask for refunds, as both were uncomfortable about the move indoors during the pandemic. We lost thousands of dollars of potential revenue in September and October.

 

The above Special Permit sound restrictions will continue to prohibit us from programming outdoors in the summer/fall of 2022 so we need to upgrade our HVAC system to accommodate patrons with safety and comfort indoors.

 

We are determined to continue bringing you quality and diverse programming . Our for profit status keeps us fiercely independent and able to present cutting edge work.
