Averie's Surgery

Hi Everyone!!

This is Averie, our sweet and sassy 2 year old. She has such a great sense of humor and is so loving. Averie is by far the toughest little girl I have ever met. She has so many health issues, and she fights hard not to let them hold her back. She is a big time mamas girl, even though her brother is her favorite person ever, and her dad is all she ever talks about!!
In her 2 years of life she has been to more dr appts and testing than most adults do in a lifetime. She has already had open heart surgery and a soft cleft palate repair. On July 31 she will be having another surgery. This time it will be to widen her skull to allow her brain enough room to grow.
Earlier this year Averie was diagnosed with Sagittal craniosynostosis, which is where the skull sutures fuse together prematurely causing pressure on her brain. Normally this is diagnosed prenatally or at birth based on head shape. But Averies head shape and size was normal at birth. Averie is one of the very rare cases where her sutures completely fused around 18 months, which should occur around age 30.
We have found amazing doctors to do the surgery at UCLA, which is about 5 hrs from our home. Due to covid, only 1 parent can be in the hospital and the other at a nearby hotel.
After a long fight with the insurance office, the surgery was finally approved. Unfortunately the insurance does not cover all costs. Our portion of the charges along with travel expenses exceeds our 1 income family budget.
Our family would greatly appreciate any amount your are lead to and able to give. Thank you so much for considering helping our sweet girl!!
