<div>I have lived in the village of Standish for the last 30 years. It is a fantastic place to live and one that I am proud to call my home.

<div>I am a longstanding member of both Standish St Wilfrid's football Club and Standish Cricket Club. The clubs are at the heart of the community and have provided opportunities in sport for the people of Standish for over 100 years. They've given me memories and friendships that will last forever, the likes of which amateur sports clubs do.

<div>Both clubs are currently undertaking significant development to improve facilities for young people in the village and require financial support. Unfortunately, Standish suffers in that it really struggles to qualify for Lottery grants or funding
</div>

<div>As such, I am doing a run (well, a plod) to help raise funds that will be split equally between the two clubs to support these improvements. I have signed up for an Ultra Marathon on Saturday 30th May at Woodbank Park Athletics track in Stockport.
</div>

</div>
<div>It starts at 9am and finishes at 9pm. It is a challenge to complete as many laps of an athletics track as one possibly can in a 12 hour window, so a challenge of both physical and mental endurance. I suspect there will be some walking, I'd love to complete 50 miles on the day.

<div>I'm overweight and slow, but also incredibly stubborn and competitive. I never give up.
</div>

</div>
<div>Times are hard for everyone at the moment and there are lots of demands on people's hard-earned money. Any amount that people can spare would be greatly appreciated.
