Average Guy Charity Kayak
Donation protected
Each year, our kids raise and save money to attend values-based summer camps throughout the country. As you know, 2020 has been difficult for families and charities and in 2020 fundraising has been extremely difficult. At the same time, like most of the country, there was no summer camp for our local kids here in Lacey New Jersey. Our kids are no different than any other kids who have struggled through the pandemic with depression and other conditions that have made these times even more uncertain. So, given the need and my love of kayaking, I created this Charity Kayak Challenge to raise awareness of these issues our kids are facing and help them cope with them by getting them the gear to have an awesome camping experience. I challenge myself to kayak from Key Largo to Key West, about 130 miles By kayak and I challenge you to sponsor the challenge through your donations. By way of this kayaking adventure, I hope we can provide all the gear required for a great 2021 summer camping experience and for many more years to come! The challenge starts at Gilberts Resort in Key Largo and ends at Siminton Beach in Key West (If I make it!). The kayak challenge will begin on May 31st and will end approximately June 5th 2021. During this time, I will be peddling my own Hobie Outback and carrying everything I need for the adventure. NO HOTELS! The camping will be in the summer of 2021 so the gear needs to be purchased and together by June 2021.
As for me? I am an average guy who loves kayaking and helping my community. I have been fundraising and volunteering for over 35 years. I have put hundreds if not thousands of hours in working with the Boy Scouts, The Baykeeper, the Hackensack River Keeper, Ducks Unlimited, ReClam the Bay, the Newark Conservancy and many more. While donations are important, any help would be equally appreciated. Nothing would make me happier than to be able to deliver this package complete and free of obligation! I fund my travel and expenses for the challenge, so one hundred percent of your donation goes to the gear which goes to the kids.
If you would rather donate gear, please contact me at [email redacted] to review the list of open items. No donation if too small.
