For the past two years I have dedicated my birthday to a cause bigger than myself, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. No birthday in the past has ever matched up to the joy it brought me to give the children of St. Jude the care they deserve and need to fight. However, this year I wanted it to be more personal to me. As some of you may know since November 1st, 2017 I have been fighting Lyme Disease, a life-altering, and miserable disease. Lyme disease research and treatment opportunities are terribly underfunded to the point where it took me a year to simply get diagnosed, and unfortunately for so many, it takes years and years and by that point, it can be past the point of treatment working. Luckily, for me, as of September 10th, 2019 I am in the remission stage! But for so many, this isn't the case. LymeLight Foundation not only grants to children and young adults with Lyme Disease but also spreads awareness about the disease itself. No one deserves to suffer through this disease and EVERYONE with Lyme Disease should have the proper treatment to be able to live a normal life free of Lyme Disease.
