Medical Bills, Travel Expenses

Meet Zoi-Salice, she is 4 years old with Cerebral Palsy. When Zoi was 18 months and not reaching some gross motor goals we started early intervention to help her start walking independently. She was making goals, but not progressing like I knew she needed to. When Zoi was just a few weeks shy of turning 2, we demanded that she be seen by a neurologist (we knew something wasn't right and this just wasn't a "delay in walking"). When the MRI came back, what at the time seemed like the worst possible news you could ever imagine...."Your daughter has Spastic Diplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy". As doctors tend to do, they gave us worst possible cases. As soon as we received the news we were researching the best possibilities for our beautiful daughter. She started physical therapy, wearing orthotic braces and Zoi worked so hard and she was walking independently by 2.5. Zoi has consistently worked hard, harder than anyone I know and for such a young age. We began Botox injections every 3 months for Zoi and it was working for a short time, but only for a short time. We didn't want her to under go Botox every 3 months any longer so we began looking for other options! My amazing husband found the solution, SPML, Selective Percutaneous Myofacial Lengthening. We contacted the doctor in TX, and Zoi was a perfect candidate for the procedure so on February 7, 2014 we flew to TX for the procedure. Zoi has done amazing ever since and continues to progress. For the first time she has the confidence to step onto a curb and off a curb with out hands or assistance, she is starting to walk up stairs with more confidence. We want the most for our beautiful inspiring daughter, which brings me to this site! What is the money for you might ask? Well, we still need to return to TX for a follow up appointment, so some will go to travel and previous medical bills, but another goal we have for Zoi is intense physical therapy. We are going in for a "free screening" to Now I Can Foundation to see what Zoi's goals should be. Now I Can is an intense physical therapy solution that is 4 hours a day, 5 times a week for 3-4 weeks. The cost is very expensive, 2K a week and not alot is covered by insurance. With all this being said, I want to thank you in advance for reading and sharing our sweet princess Zoi's story! Team Zoi!
