Our Autism Specialist, LLC
I am an Autism Specialist in the Bay Area. It is my mission to connect people with Autism with resources that are necessary for personal success within their community. Using a variety of evidence-based practices, I offer direct support in any environment. By providing families, educators, friends, and other community members with individualized services, I empower people with Autism to be more successful in all areas of daily living. I am also able to help build collaborative communities around the person with Autism in order to have a strong and reliable network of support.
One of the things that children with Autism are really struggling with on a daily basis is social play. They need help learning how to use their imaginations, cooperate and collaborate with their peers, communicate socially, and make and keep meaningful friendships.
Play groups are one very successful way to work on these goals, help children build these skills and make lasting friendships, but they are very expensive! When we think about all the things that are involved (rent for the space, insurance, play materials, professional leaders, etc.) the cost starts to skyrocket. For many families, this makes it nearly impossible for their child to benefit from this play group opportunities.
I am partnering with several different professionals and organizations in the Bay Area to offer exciting, research based, professionaly facilitated play groups. We would like to make these groups more accessible for all families by offering scholarships so the costs to families is drastically more afforable, but they are still receiving high quality services.
Many families have expressed their frustration with the fact that their children need so many different kinds of therapy and support services (speech, OT, PT, AAC, play, etc.) that they can't possibly afford to cover everything. They end up having to pick and choose which things are most important and lose the opportunity to give their child ALL the support they need to be successful.
Help us support these families to provide their children with a unique opportunity to practice many crucial social skills, make new friends, and (most importantly) have fun!!
