Autism Support Dog for Reilly

Donation protected
I have set up this go fund me account in the hopes of obtaining an autism assistance dog for my son Reilly who is a 5 year old, non verbal autistic cherub, unfortunatley  he's a really fast runner with no sense of danger who suffers meltdowns and anxiety on a daily basis.

we would like an assistance dog to increase social interaction, confidence and safety. They can comfort and protect in times of great anxiety or stress and keep a person safe in times of grave danger by alerting, carrying out deep pressure techniques and distraction. Most of all Reilly will experience and gain unconditional love and a best friend for life. A guardian angel in the guise of a dog.

An autism assistance dog is trained to assist, befriend, comfort, protect, alert, support and give unconditional love to any individual with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

A service dog can assist a child/adult with deep pressure therapy which will decrease stress, anxiety and even diffuse a meltdown. This in turn will support Reilly in learning self calming and de-stressing skills. It will also help with tactile behaviours, if your child is particularly non tactile, an assistance dog can help to increase these behaviours. This is the same for children who may be non verbal.

An assistance dog will help Reilly if he is a fight and/or flight risk. The safety aspect of having a service dog for Reilly  is paramount. The dog is trained to stop and will prevent the child from running off or into harms way.

For security, an assistance dog is there to provide constant and unconditional support in all situations. If Reilly is stimming, flapping, rocking, making noises, spinning around or jumping, a service dog can help to decrease the level of intensity that can at times turn one of these actions into a full blown meltdown.

For the social aspect of Reilly having an assistance dog, this will help to support Reilly  in interactive situations where otherwise he might feel anxious or uncomfortable. they will help in social situations, e.g. in shops, at the park and other specific places.

So you can see already how incredible assistance dogs are to any autistic child/adult. That level of independence, security and social skills, is nothing short of miraculous.

Why not fund it ourselves?  I spend most of my time to helping others voluntarily unpaid. I'm also co-founder of North East Hearts with Goals and this time its my turn to ask for help.

I will be eternally grateful to anyone who contributes to this appeal.  I spend most days terrified for Reilly's safety and well being.  Please read my blog attached for more information about our adventures and struggles.
