I am raising funds for my son who suffers from autism and schizoaffective disorder.
He cannot afford a place to live, so has been has been either homeless, sleeping in parks, or finding "friends" in various places, who would let him stay in their less-than-ideal apartments.
I finally found a care home for him, where the staff will help him stay on his medications, find suitable part-time employment, and guide him to learn strategies for coping so that he can feel productive.
Unfortunately, his funding has been cut by $245 per month and now does not cover his full rent. He cannot work to make up the difference. (Any income over $65/month will decrease his disability benefits further.) Without making up the difference, he cannot pay the monthly costs to stay here. It is best that he stays here because they have a very caring staff and he can live here for the rest of his life, not having to make yet another change, which is difficult for him.
I am fund-raising to make up the $245 monthly for the next 40 years so that he will be able to enjoy a quality of life that will no longer have him feeling tormented by his struggle to cope and be "normal".
The need will be ongoing, so I am praying for monthly donations similar to those one would give to a charity, but this would go to the charity of helping him never have to be homeless and without medication again. Of course, one-time donations will be greatly appreciated in any amount.
This fund will not only provide deserved quality to his life by paying for the services his illnesses require, reducing his mental and emotional struggles, but just knowing that he always has a place to live will give him a sense of security that can only help him reach his goals to do something good with his life and not feel that he is a burden, which bothers him greatly.
I believe this fund will save his life. This would be a gift for which I will be eternally grateful, that will go on even after I am gone.
