Ayden is a twelve year old boy who is goofy, loves life, extremely intelligent, and non-verbal. He also has autism. This does not define him, but it does impact his life and those lives around him. Recently, he began having seizures for unknown reasons.
Autism assistant dogs normally cost $13,500. However, it is much more cost effective to find a therapy dog breed and have it trained with it's partner (Ayden). Ayden, will be able to first-hand learn to give commands, while the dog learns Ayden's behavior patterns. Because dogs will learn behavior patterns, he or she will be able to notify someone in case of seizures. Service dogs also provide additional safety and security. The service dog we have found will attend school with Ayden, sleep with Ayden, and travel with Ayden. She will not leave his side. A service dog’s calming presence can minimize and often eliminate emotional outbursts, enabling Ayden to more fully participate in community and family activities. They also are shown to improve verbal language skills.
Nicole, Ayden's mother, has found a dog that is perfect for Ayden. She is an English Springer Spaniel and ready to be trained and worked with.
The money raised will be used to purchase the service dog and provide training. Because these dogs are not readily available, time is of the essence. The dog is being held until Friday. We need to raise this money by Friday, March 31, 2017!
Ayden deserves the best. Let's show him and his family how much they are supported. Even if you are only able to give $1, $5, $10, or more, it is all appreciated.
