Friend Mom's Bilateral Mastectomy

I am creating this fund raiser for a friend who's mother recently moved to the United States. Aunty is a new immigrant to the United States, her long awaited journey to the land of dreams had only started last year and she and her daughter who is a hard working lady doing 2 jobs in order to support herself and her Mom, had to face the terrible news that the Mom has Breast Cancer.
Due to Aunty's short residence history in the USA, she is not qualified for any of the Governments assitance programme via Medicaid/Medicare and does not have any insurance. The daughter has had taken her Mom to several places in search of the most reasonable and cost effective treatment and she is now working with a Dr who has been very helpful in advising her the next steps and has graciously waived off 50% of the fees in treatment. Her condition is at an advanced level with the Dr. recommending a Bilateral Mastectomy followed by several sessions of Chemo's. The Surgery for the Mastectomy procedure needs to happen at the earliest, the discounted cost of the procedure is $10,000 followed by additional costs for the Prescription drugs and Chemo's that will come later.
With the help of friends and family and her little savings we have pooled around $2,500 to help her get started. Seeing how over whelmed she has been we thought of starting this fund raiser and offer any help we can this way. I hope this goes to meet my initial target and I sincerely hope we achieve it which should hopefully take off some stress from the family.
