My name is Lucy Sandoe. I am entering my sophomore year at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences. I have recently had the opportunity to apply to the Rotary International Youth Exchange.
After several months of deliberating and excess paperwork, I have passed the local level. In September, I have a district interview in San Francisco, where I will select my top four countries from the list. I am hoping for Brazil, Austria, Turkey, Greece, or Belgium, but anywhere would be amazing.
I would love to go on an exchange, because of the many doors it would open for me. It would give me a chance to meet new people, get familiar with a culture, and enhance all sorts of skills. While I enjoy living in Northern California, It is not much of a booming cultural center. I am so excited at the challenges of immersion in a new language and lifestyle, and the adventures this program will provide. However....
....to go on this year-long program, I need around $6500 for travel fees, insurance, school supplies, and language classes. I am doing my best to work and save. At this point, however, the cost is prohibitive for me and for my family. I have decided to use GoFundMe to reach out to my family and friends. I would greatly appreciate whatever you can give, even if it is just sharing my site!
