Hey guys! Fly from the Rooster Teeth community site here! I would like to bring something to your attention...
There is this awesome lady on the RT site.
Her name is Audrey...
Audrey has hosted a handful of charity streams. These streams brought us, the RT community, together to raise money and awareness for The National Fibromyalgia Association, and Children With Hair Loss. And she even threw together a charity stream for a member on the RT site who needed to upgrade his computer for streaming (he had thrown together some 24 hour charity streams in the past)!!! Basically what I'm saying is: Audrey is awesome and selfless when it comes to the RT community and people in need...
Recently though, Audrey and her husband TJ have fallen on hard times. As you can see Fly can't words good... So I asked her to write a little something:
In the beginning of 2015, TJ was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. It's a condition he will have for the rest of his life. There is no cure. The best we can try are treatments that vary in both expense and in their ability to manage symptoms.
At the end of 2015, I started to realize I'd been having unusual symptoms. Because of health insurance fun, I had to try to diagnose myself with a CT Scan and other avenues for months without insurance. It wasn't until I got the insurance sorted that we were able to get me to a neurologist and, through a series of some more expensive tests, we were able to diagnose me with fibromyalgia. It's a condition I'll have for the rest of my life. There is no cure. The best we can try are treatments that vary in both expense and in their ability to manage symptoms.
Our mailbox keeps filling with bills for all of these diagnostic tests, in addition to what we need to pay to treat our symptoms as much as possible. We've put off certain treatment possibilities because of prohibitive costs. And now we need to figure out how to fund moving halfway across the country and paying first and last month's rent on our next apartment. The most fun part? We don't know when our next paycheck will come in. I start work in the fall semester, and TJ is currently on a Rhode Island job hunt.
When it rains, it pours. Especially when it comes to bills, and especially when you're a husband and wife duo who have chronic invisible illnesses.
So, Audrey didn't want to throw herself a stream because she didn't want to seem selfish. So I asked her if she'd be okay if I hosted one for her. She responded with a smiley... Which I think was supposed to mean "thank you".
So, Let's see if we can help!!!
Let's try to get them the goal by July 1st!!!
