AUCF Chicago Marathon Fundraising

Tax deductible
Hi Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I am running the Chicago Marathon on October 7th. This is a personal goal of mine that I am excited to take on and (God willing) accomplish. More importantly, this gives me the opportunity to raise awareness of a charity that is near and dear to the Fee family, the Achon Uganda Children's Fund.

This organization began several years ago with the very sport I'm using to drive awareness: running. It was started by Julius Achon, a Ugandan Olympic and former child soldier in Joseph Kony's Resistance Army.

The AUCF began organically when Julius crossed paths with a group of orphans while on a run near his village in Uganda and he welcomed them into his family. Julius continued to support these children from his modest home in Oregon and, along the way, crossed paths with Jim Fee, who welcomed Julius into his family. Together with Love Mercy, an Aussie non-profit, Julius and Jim raised funds to support more orphans and build the Kristina Health Center, named after Julius’ late mother. Following the tragic passing of Jim in 2013, the AUCF mourned but pressed on. Patients now receive care and take rest at the James Fee Memorial Patient Ward beside the clinic.

Julius and the AUCF aren’t done. He now serves a Member of Parliament in Uganda and remains committed to helping his people. He and the team are now working on the development of a maternity ward, among other initiatives to support the people of Northern Uganda.

I’m running my 26.2 to raise awareness for the AUCF. If this story has touched your heart as it has mine, you can read all of the details in John Brant’s, The Boy Who Runs (available on Amazon).

I would appreciate any donation you feel compelled to give, but no pressure at all.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Thank you,

Catherine
