Aubrey's Journey

Donation protected
Aubrey Mahina O' hokunani Paclib was born on November 13, 2011.  From the moment Aubrey was born she has been a fighter. At fetal development she was diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus also known as water on the brain, a very rare condition. For those of you who are not aware of the condition: our body creates something called Cerebral Spinal Fluid, and is normally able to eliminate it naturally, but in this case Aubrey has a blockage in her brain that prevents her from doing so. So in order to help her they placed a VP shunt that helps drain the fluid from her brain out through her body. Recently the VP shunt she had for 5 years malfunctioned. We were medevaced to Kapiolani Hospital from North Hawaii Community Hospital on September 16, 2017. She had a revision done on Wednesday, September 27th and that one too malfunctioned. Because of the malfunction, fluid built up in her brain so much that Aubrey suffered 5 seizures and a stroke, which caused her to go into cardiac arrest. She was resuscitated and rushed to the ICU in Kapiolani Hospital, where we currently remain. She was put on a breathing machine for 3 days and later the machine was removed when she showed signs of improvement and could breathe on her own. When she awoke we noticed that her eyes were deviated to the left and after further assessments we found out she had lost her sight completely. Although she is unable to see, she is able to speak and is mobile. We are very hopeful and believe that she has youth on her side and may regain sight someday. But for now we are faced with many challenges in the present and in the future. So we are asking for donations to help pay for medical expenses and make some accommodations for Aubrey when we are ready to bring her home. Funds will also be helpful for when we need to fly back and forth for appointments and so on. We humbly ask for your help and appreciate whatever is given.  Prayers for her recovery would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless <3
