Help Support Aubrey and His Family on His Long Road to Recovery 
 
On July 21, 2025, Aubrey Peterson’s life changed in an instant. While picking up his truck at a repair shop, he suddenly collapsed at the counter—his heart had stopped, and he suffered a cardiac arrest. Thanks to a nearby ambulance, Aubrey was revived after being shocked twice by paramedics and rushed to Civic Hospital, later being transferred to the Heart Institute Intensive Care Cardiac Unit. 
 
Aubrey spent five weeks in a coma, surrounded by loved ones who never gave up hope. Slowly, he began to open his eyes, show recognition, and move. While these signs have been deeply encouraging, the full extent of the neurological damage is still unknown. Today, Aubrey remains in the hospital in his own room, working closely with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. However, his journey is far from over. He cannot yet walk or talk, relies on a feeding tube, and breathes through a tracheostomy. The current goal is to get him medically stable enough to move to a rehabilitation center, with the long-term hope of bringing him home to his family. 
 
A Family in Crisis 
 
Aubrey's wife, Angie, has taken an extended leave from work to be by his side, but this has come at a financial cost. Aubrey currently has no sustainable income or long-term benefits to cover the astronomical costs of neurological and physical rehabilitation. 
 
They are the loving parents of two daughters: Isabela (14), a Grade 9 student and Gabriela (20), in her third year of Social Work at Carleton University, both very close with their father and mother. 

This unexpected medical crisis has put an enormous strain on the family’s finances, with growing expenses that include: 
 
• Mortgage and household bills 

• Hospital visit expenses 

• Tuition and living expenses for their daughters 

• Transportation and meals during long hospital stays 

• Future rehabilitation and home care needs 

• Ongoing family crisis support expenses
