My mom is going through her 3rd round of chemo today. It's hard as no one can go with her anymore and she has to be alone. She will be at the Hospital today from 7:30 to 2:30pm, please send her your thoughts and prayers.
Her cancer marker started at 138 and is now down to 10. Her body is responding well to chemo. After today she waits till April 22nd - 23rd where she goes to the Mayo for more testing and her pre-op. Her surgery is supposed to be the 1st week of May to go in and try to remove all tumors/masses and for a complete hysterectomy.
The plan is to do 3 more rounds of chemo after surgery and the goal is for this to put her into remission.
My Mom, Vicki was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 4 Peritoneal Carcinomatosis in early February, 2020.
This is a very rare type of cancer. She started aggressive chemo right away and has went through 2 rounds already. The next round is in April and her surgery to try and remove all masses/tumors is scheduled for the 1st week of May at the Mayo. She will probably also need 3 more rounds of chemo after this, at a minimum.
This has been a very difficult time as she had to quit her job to go through chemo and stay healthy. Obviously, current events with COVID-19 have made this even harder. Her husband tore his rotator cuff right before this and had surgery so he is only able to work part-time, on light duty.
Vicki has medical insurance but the max out of pocket is $6,900.00 this year. Of course there are many other costs for traveling, over the counter meds, etc.
She has a long medical journey that is being treated very aggressively and she is seeking help from family, friends and community.
She is filled with strength, faith and optimism through God and knows he is there to help her win this fight. She wants to spend many more years loving on her children, grandchildren and husband Doug.
