PLEASE HELP Grandparents rebuild lives!

Our parents, Bob (aka Hilson) and Cris Maddox are full time RV-ers. They live half of the year in Arizona in an area designed for retirees living in RV's, and the other half, here in Central Oregon, where they stay with various relatives and friends. They are both disabled. Dad has Rheumatoid Arthritis, heart disease and COPD and Mom is in remission for uterine AND ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, chemo left her with nerve damage in her hands and feet, which is very painful, and makes it virtually impossible to work. They are AMAZING people and would give the shirts off their backs for anyone in need.

On Tuesday, June 24th, while on their way home from Magone Lake, Dad's favorite fishing spot, with my niece, Mia, and nephew Adam, in the back seat. Dad fell asleep at the wheel. He woke up just in time to see a rock wall directly in front of them. His quick reaction saved their lives. He was able to turn the truck enough to avoid a head on collision, on a down hill grade, with the rock wall.

Because of Dad's quick reaction, everyone survived the crash with only minor injuries. Unfortunately, the truck and fifth-wheel didn't fare so well. The passenger side of both were ripped open like sardine cans. The front of the fifth-wheel sustained major damage. Their belongings, their life, was strewn along the highway, the fifth-wheel came to a stop on top of the pick up.

Dad and Mom lived on a fixed income, Dad's social security, which is equal to what a lot of us would spend just in utility bills OR groceries. They had only liability insurance on the truck, nothing on the fifth-wheel. No towing insurance.

The towing company worked until 4am to separate the truck and trailer so they could be towed from the site. The towing bill started at $8,000. The truck and trailer are complete losses. As are most of their belongings, possessions and personal items. My brother in-law was able to do some negotiating with the tow company to bring that amount down to $6,500, IF we pay the bill  AND have the vehicles removed from the site by Sunday, June 29th.

They have no home, no vehicle and no way to pay the towing bill. My sisters, brother and I are doing everything we can to come up with the towing money, but that still leaves my parents homeless, and without any means to replace any of their personal items. Items like my Dad's wedding ring and his teeth (which he apparently doesn't wear while driving!), their prescriptions -medicare/medicaid won't allow them to be filled again so close to the last fill, kitchen utensils, bedding and the biggest of all, a roof over their heads and a vehicle to tow it with.

Thank you for reading. We appreciate ALL ideas and any help.
God Bless.
