<p>In 2009 RaShawn Clark was sentenced to 20 years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by 10 years probation for robbery with a deadly weapon. RaShawn was not in possession of the weapon. RaShawn was recommended by the Department of Juvenile Justice for a high-risk treatment facility for youth offenders. Unfortunately RaShawn wasn’t afforded the opportunity and was ultimately forced to forfeit his “American dream” by spending the next 20 years of his life locked behind bars.  RaShawn and his co defendant (who was also his brother) both filed a motion for reduced sentences on the grounds that legal counsel failed to convey a more favorable sentence. RaShawn’s brother/co defendant who was the possessor of the weapon was granted relief and his sentence was reduced from 27 years Florida Department of corrections and 5 years probation to 18 years Department of Corrections. On the other hand, RaShawn’s appeal was denied. When present before the judge, RaShawn’s brother was given the benefit of the doubt that legal counsel failed to convey the more favorable plea bargain. However RaShawn’s judge stated he couldn’t believe that legal counsel would fail to convey the more favorable sentence which now makes RaShawn the less culpable yet he carries the heavier sentence. We are seeking justice for RaShawn by hiring a civil attorney to fight the injustices and inequalities of RaShawn’s case. Please help support the movement. If there is any left over money we plan to give it to RaShawn upon release to help him transition successfully back into society. A 16 year old youth offender shouldn’t serve 20 years in an adult prison. Help to free RaShawn.
