On March 22, 2018, the Canton Zoning Board of Appeals will hear arguments from the prospective buyers and attorneys for the property at 225 Turnpike Street, regarding the proposed conversion of that property into a 48-bed Medical Monitored Inpatient Detox facility. In response, several Canton residents in the surrounding neighborhoods are joining together in strong opposition to the proposed development, arguing that residential neighborhoods are not appropriate locations for detox facilities.
We understand that there is an increasing need for these types of facilities in our community. However, it is our opinion that there are other more suitable locations within Canton that should be considered where there is minimal impact to our residents.
An attorney has been hired to represent the collective group of residents at the March 22 ZBA meeting and to advise us going forward. The funds from this campaign will go towards defraying these legal costs.
Please join with us in challenging this proposal at the ZBA meeting on March 22.
