Atticus' Moments in Time

Donation protected
On 8/29/2017 Atticus Finn came into this world weighing 6 lbs and 12 oz. Through their excitement his parents counted all 12 fingers and all 10 toes that he so extraordinarily was born with. It was known to his parents that he would be born with an issue with his kidneys. However, they did not know the extent of that issue until he was born. Atticus was transferred to a local children's hospital where he was diagnosed with Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome. This is a very rare form of nephrotic syndrome that is caused by a defect in the protein nephrin, which is found in the kidneys. This means his kidneys do not filter waste like they should and he will most definitely need a kidney transplant very early in life. Atticus, and his parents, were then transferred to  Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where he would undergo more tests and more diagnosis'. It was discovered Atticus has a floppy or low tone airway meaning it is hard for him to breathe on his own. It was also discovered that he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or simply put abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. Atticus would now need a kidney transplant and a heart transplant. His parents were given the tragic news that due to his existing heart condition if something were to go wrong while he was under anesthesia the medication they would give him would kill him. Due to this, Atticus was immediately deemed ineligible to be placed on a donor list. The doctor's told them he has a twenty percent chance of living to see his first birthday. Together, his parents have made the heartbreaking decision to bring Atticus home and enjoy the precious moments of time they have been given with him. He will hopefully be home in time for Thanksgiving. His main caregivers are his parents and hospice will be visiting his home a couple times a week. His mommy who has been with him day in and day out deserves the chance to stay home with her baby for what is expected to be his last days. That is where you come in, if you can spare any amount of money that can help this mommy have just one more day of staying with her baby please donate. The donations will be helping pay rent, electricity, groceries (Atticus has 3 older brothers!), all of the things that don't stop even when life throws the unexpected at you. Please share this to help it reach as many people as possible and please send your prayers of comfort, strength, and guidance. If you know of other ways to help this mommy please email at [email redacted]
Thank you!
