Attacking Ataxia: Stem Cell Therapy

If you know me personally or have been following my journey, you know that I was diagnosed with a rare hereditary movement disorder known as SCA 3 or Ataxia about 4 years ago.
Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a condition characterized by progressive problems with movement. People with this condition initially experience problems with coordination and balance (ataxia). Other early signs and symptoms of SCA3 include speech difficulties, uncontrolled muscle tensing (dystonia), muscle stiffness (spasticity), rigidity, tremors, bulging eyes, and double vision. At first I was embarrassed to say the least. only those near and dear to me knew what I was going through. Ive tried Physical Therapy, Yoga, Cycling, water aerobics to keep my muscles active. Lately, Ive been training with a Personal Trainer, Alexis Branch, and she has given
me the necessary tools to flourish. However, its still a constant battle that I am currently fighting everyday. There is currently no Rx to treat the disorder and the insurance companies will not provide funds to pay for any "experimental treatment".
I was recently referred to a Specialist for non related injury and was re-introduced to Stem Cell Therapy. I have done extensive research and was quite impressed by the progress of patients. The down side was I would have to travel to Asia for the treatment and stay for 2 weeks to be monitored. Luckily this treatment center is located only a 6 hour drive in Orlando Fl. There are openings as early as December.
As technology pushes forward with advances in treatment for herediatary diseases there are promising new methods under way and STEM CELL THERAPY is definitely at the top of the list. Please support me in my continued journey in ATTACKING ATAXIA.
