ATRA Conference 2019

Hello All!

As many of you know I am passionate about working with families facing life-threatening illnesses. I have spent years working with children and adults hands-on and chose to incorporate this population into my masters research project.

I now have the opportunity to present my research  "Negotiating Complex Identities: The Role of a Wilderness-Based Camp for Adolescents with Illness" at the annual conference for the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. This study will help professionals to understand the importance of camp programming, illness-specific programming, and additional supports to sustain progress for adolescents with illness. I will be able to take what I've learned about how we as Recreational Therapists can help and share it with professionals from across the country.

However, the conference is in Reno, NV and I have hit a snag with financing my trip to the conference.
I would love to be able to take this amazing opportunity to both further my presentation skills and spread the word about my research--but I need a bit of help to get there!

I would like to thank anyone and everyone for their support in advance. Any contribution helps me get there.

Here's to spreading the word about how we can help adolescents with serious illnesses to grow and succeed in their identities!
