Eagle Scout Project

My name is Sean Strayer and I am a 17 year-old Life Scout from Troop 412 in Fountain Valley. I have been in Scouting since the first grade and I am about to start my senior year at Fountain Valley High School. I was the Senior Patrol Leader of my troop for one year and I have been to countless Scout and High Adventure camps. My favorite camp is Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico where I backpacked 138 miles. The main goal of every Boy Scout is to become an Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout award is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. To earn the rank, a Boy Scout must earn 21 Eagle required merit badges and progress through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life before working on the Eagle Scout project. The Eagle Scout candidate is required to plan, develop, and carry out a leadership service project. I chose to build a running long jump course for Masuda middle school, where I attended junior high school. Currently, Masuda has to transport the track and field students to a different school to use its running long jump course. This is very inconvenient for the students and coaches. All of the funds will go to supplies and necessary materials for the project. I have estimated that the cost of my project will be about $1400.00. If you are willing and able to donate to my project, I would greatly appreciate it. Any amount, even $10.00, would help me complete my project and ultimately earn my Eagle Rank in Scouting.
