Help Atli and Joe Hike The Colorado Trail

Hi, we are Atli and Joe and we are hiking the Colorado Trail this summer!
We are raising money to pay for our expenses and also to support two environmental organizations.
Joe lives full time in his small bus, traveling the country working seasonal jobs and writing for Medium. Atli lives in Canada in her van and works part-time as a transit bus driver.
We first met at Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in the mid-2010s and have become good friends since then, sometimes traveling together in the desert SW in the winter. This will be our grandest adventure yet by far!
The Colorado Trail is a long-distance trail running for 486 miles (782 km) from the mouth of Waterton canyon southwest of Denver to Durango in Colorado, United States. Its highest point is 13,271 feet (4,045 m) above sea level, and most of the trail is above 10,000 feet (3,000 m). Atli and Joe will complete a thru-hike of the entire trail beginning in early July and finishing in late August or early September. (Wikipedia description of the trail)
Yes, we are capable of saving up enough money on our own. But let's face it: if you know us at all, you know we both hate working, and if anyone out there has spare money lying around, we are more than willing to make good use of it for our trip! Perhaps you're a baron or baroness or perhaps you just want to live vicariously through us (we'll post about the trip on IG!). Either way, we are more than happy to accept donations to help fund our hiking trip.
The money would be used for the following things:
-Gas to get to and from the trail in Colorado from Oregon and BC, Canada.
-Gear for Atli: merino wool leggings and shirt, lightweight rain jacket, titanium ultralight cooking pot
-Gear for Joe: new tent, sleeping bag,
-Proper trail shoes for both Atli and Joe
-Food. Lots and lots of food.
-Other assorted clothing items and smaller supplies for both Atli and Joe
ALSO, we have each chosen a charity to support with the funds we raise!
Up to the $6,000 goal, we will give away 20% of the total donated.
Atli is supporting the Burns Bog Conservation Society , which aims to save Burns Bog and other peatlands through education and research.
Joe is supporting the Clean Air Task Force , an organization working to prevent climate change through policy and pragmatic solutions.
If we reach the $6,000 goal, 80% of all donations beyond that will go to support these organizations!
Originally this Gofundme started as a bit of a joke, after Atli spotted a campaign of an acquaintance, who was requesting more than what Atli makes in a year at her job from what was essentially a self-inflicted injury. After the two of us laughed a bit, we both thought, why not make one ourselves? It never hurts to ask! Also by no means do we want you to donate if you're struggling financially in any way. But if you're swimming Scrooge McDuck style through a vault of money, we're happy to help lighten your load ;)
