IRON(WO)MAN SARA
Donation protected
On July 27th, I will be competing in the Ironman triathlon in Lake Placid. 140.6 miles - 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run - in a single day. Daunting and terrifying? Not compared to the daily fight my friend, Sara, is currently facing. A wife, a mother of 3, a daughter, a friend, and a very strong woman battling brain cancer. Each mile on the way to crossing the Ironman finishing line will be spurred on in honor of Sara's courageous fight to become victorious over this disease. Please consider sponsoring me in this quest, as each dollar donated will go to Sara's medical bills. Sara is the real Iron(wo)man here.
Sara's story in her own words:
It all started 3 years ago. I was having horrible headaches. Then I couldn't hang my wash out, b/c it hurt to bend over and trying to hang it on the line got difficult. I had a CAT scan and MRI, then a neurosurgeon biopsied it. It was a level 2 cancerous brain tumor. I had 6 weeks of radiation at Lancaster. Then he wanted me to go on Chemo. I got a second opion from Dr. Weingart at Johns Hopkins. And he biopsied it too (9 months later). I have been getting MRIs every 3-4 months to keep an eye on it. He found spot in May, and I had it biopsied again in June. My cancer progressed to level 4. I am now going to have radiation again with Chemo (via pill form).
Thank you to all.
