<div>Sports and the Duquesne City School District are synonymous. Those that are familiar with Duquesne City know our storied sports history, having won 12 WPIAL basketball championships and four WPIAL football championships, despite our district’s small size.

<div>Sports just mean a little more in our community. Our history is filled with tails of perseverance, of a little community that kept a chip on its shoulder and fostered that into success. Within that history, there are loads of memories in our football stadium.

<div>When we returned sports in 2022 after a ten-year hiatus spurred by financial recovery, students looked forward to making new memories in our stadium. There was just one problem: the stadium wasn’t structurally sound. Structural engineers recommended that the stadium wasn’t up to code, and that it needed to be demolished, and not renovated. To boot, the stadium didn’t align with WPIAL standards. Since sports have returned, our football team has had to play all of its games on the road.

<div>That brings us to where we are now: making steps towards a new stadium. That process started on August 24, 2023, when Reynolds Bros. Landscaping began demolishing parts of our football stadium free of charge. Now, we are asking for your help. The district needs to raise $50,000 to fund a capital campaign for the building of a new stadium, and to purchase temporary bleachers for the field. After that, a new stadium is estimated to cost $12 million dollars.

<div>As a school district, we pride ourselves on being incredibly resourceful, on turning over every leaf to get our kids what they deserve. For now, we are asking for your help to get us started. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Whether you once donned red and white as a Duke athlete or not, we believe everybody can appreciate an underdog story, of a district that perseveres and writes its own history. With your help, we hope to continue to add to that history.
