<div>Hi! We are raising money to support our sister and aunt, Andrea Gleaves, in her battle with late stage cervical cancer.

<div>After our mother and grandma passed suddenly and unexpectedly last summer 2022, Andrea started struggling soon after with a handful of medical issues. She visited multiple doctors with no answers. After begging for follow ups, referrals, and tests she was finally scheduled for a biopsy months later in January 2023. Following the biopsy, at age 37, she was diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer (squamous cell carcinoma).

<div>Since January she has undergone chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and localized radiation. The treatments, multiple doctors appointments, medication, side effects, pokes, scans, and hospital stays have taken a toll on her physically and mentally.

<div>Last week on May 10, 2023 she was once again admitted to the hospital in what we thought was a routine stay to prepare for another cycle of chemo, however on May 13, during the night she took a turn for the worse and was moved unexpectedly to the ICU and placed on a ventilator where she remains today. She is alert and fighting for her life.

<div>Andrea has spent her career advocating for others. She spent 11 years in Washington DC managing Strategic Partnerships at DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence where she advocated for women’s rights. For the last 3 years she has been in California as Communications Manager at Children’s Law Center of California advocating for neglected children.

<div>As the saying goes, to know Andrea is to love her. She is such a vibrant and compassionate friend to all those she comes in contact with. She is passionate about her work and equally passionate about her family, especially her 9 nieces and nephews who call her Dre Dre. The whole family shares her love of Disneyland and Star Wars. The Force is strong in our family and we are #Rebels4DreDre! We want to make sure she feels as taken care of as when she takes care of us and others.

<div>We all know average medical bills cost an arm and a leg, so the financial medical journey to fight cancer plus long term ICU care is a whole other beast. Our goal through this fundraiser is to allow Andrea to solely focus on her health. The money will first and foremost go to paying medical bills, but also to taking care of herself day to day.
