This is my precious angel, Londyn Aida. She was officailly diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy at 3 months of age after suffering an unknown stroke in utero. After many tests, many doctor visits and many tears from not knowing what was to come, Londyn has shown that she is a fighter and has a zest for life.
Londyn has excelled in her all her threapy programs and has done things that most of her doctors said she would "never" do. She brightens up the room with her beautiful smile and infectous laugh. She fills my life with so much joy even though she will face many challenges throughout her lifetime. Londyn currently goes to school half day and receives outside therapy services once a week. She is just now learning how to walk using the treadmill and with the help of her kid-walk and stander, I know she will soon master this task. Londyn is still non-verbal, but she definitely has her ways of communicating. Londyn and her big sister, Leilani, are two of the best things to ever happen to me. I am blessed to be their mommy.
All parents are afraid of what the future holds for their children, but due to Londyn's condition, my fears are intensified. The worry that you face for a child with special needs is overwhelming. Londyn requires hands on care and will continue to need services as she grows. There are many types of services, like a summer camp for those with special needs, and adapted equipment that I am just unable to afford. Medical fees can reduce one to tears, but I know that my child needs her medicine and needs to see the doctors when emergencies occcur, so I am humbly asking for your assistance. Struggles will come, uncertainties will always loom, bills will pile up...but with the strength of faith, prayer and love, I know Londyn's life will be one with great fulfillment.
