Astride and Inesse' Education

Donation protected
Hi. I am Marcel Kalenga. I was born in the DRC. I came to the US when I was 21 years old to further my education. Along the way I received enormous help and support from close friends. Without their help I would not have been able to go to school and reach my goals.

I have always had a strong desire to help my family back in the Congo. Even though money was tight for me while I was paying for my own school in the states, I set it as a priority to help my younger siblings receive their basic education.

I worked very hard to pay for school and my expenses as well as paying for my siblings' school. Since 2013 I have been paying for my brothers, sisters Astrid and Ines, and nieces and nephews. School costs $50 per person each month, which does not include books and other expenses.

Astrid (14) has great goals and dreams to make an impact in the world. Her four older sisters were not able to go to school and she wants a different life than what her sisters now have. She hopes to get a good education and opportunities to change her life's projectory.

Ines (17) is very talented. She has already received some training in making clothes. She enjoys crocheting and sewing. She would like to further her education and be able to find a job in the the clothing industry.

I have seen the incredible opportunities that I have received because of my education. Since earning my bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University, I have joined the US Army and am now an active-duty soldier living in Germany.

I recently got married in September 2017 and am now also taking care of my wife. We are trying to start our new life together, but it has been extremely difficult to continue to pay the school expenses for my sisters and nieces on my limited income.

Both of my sisters, as well as a couple of my nieces, are in desperate situations. Without an education their lives are very limited to what they can do. Currently none of them are in school because I have not been able to pay for it.

I am deeply appreciative of any help that you can give. Even a small donation will go very far and will make an enormous difference in the lives of these girls. Thank you for your consideration and willingness to help.
