Assumption Schools has educated many generations of Marshallese. Although the Catholic population in the Marshall Islands is under 10%, Assumption graduates have an outsize impact on the nation as government leaders, heads of business and community organiztions. The school motto, "Loving God by serving others," can be seen in the lives of the extensive Assumption family - students, parents, administration and teachers, and of course alumni and friends.
Assumption needs that family to come together now to help purchase 24 laptops for the school. Without your help, nearly 300 Assumption students and their teachers and staff will continue to share just 15 laptops for the ENTIRE school.
According to Principal Biram Stege, the school needs
-12 laptops for the student computer lab
-5 laptops for teachers
-2 laptops for the library
-5 laptops for the student center
With the addition of these laptops, Assumption will be able to continue providing high school level computer courses, expand access to technology in the elementary school, support teacher access to online educational resources, and provide interactive assisted learning programs for students needing extra help with Math and English.
Your donation will go to purchase 24 Acer Aspire 11.6" Touchscreen LED Notebooks, at $320.00 per laptop. It will also help to cover $120 in shipping costs.
Assumption is my family, in more ways than one. My mom, Biram, is the principal of the school. Many of my aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews benefited from an Assumption education. And, I am an alumnus. I now live in the US, but the education and support I received at Assumption set a strong foundation for the life I've built here. Fundraising for the school is my way of giving back. I will use all the funds raised as part of this campaing to purchase and then ship the laptops to the school.
