Assos Relief Fund

The magical village of ASSOS on the northwest coast of the Greek Ionian island of KEFALONIA is held near and dear to NERAI restaurant's founder, Spiro Menegatos. This is his father's homeland and also the place in which he spent his childhood summers.
On September 17th, Cyclone IANOS swept through the island devastating the village of ASSOS. The massive mud and boulder slides from the mountain along with the surge of water from the ocean set the stage for CATASTROPHE. It was one of the hardest hit towns on the island from the storm. It was buried in meters of rubble and water. Many in the village still remain without water and power.
Although there has been military presence to help clear the main roads, this is just the beginning. We would like to provide relief in these efforts to help restore the village's beauty as we know it. This fund will support the rebuilding of public spaces in Assos such as the square, park, beach, and walkways. We will work in close collaboration with the people of the community and the Menegatos family (Aqua Apartments) to distribute funds appropriately.
