Finding Justice

My mother-in-law, Wende Berry, worked her way from a homeless pregnant teen, to a degreed homeowner putting her twins thru college. Then she married an abusive man who cost her everything, including her health. It was a full decade before she learned the marriage was fraudulently heteronormative. Attempts to make peace with that failed when the abuse escalated to death threats and attempts. His financial abuse continues: he twice falsified the date of separation in court papers so she'd lose her health insurance . She escaped last year.
Since then she has faced extensive abuse from both her abusive spouse and the legal and judicial systems: a police chief that mocked death threats; a judge that allowed him to commit perjury with no penalty, another judge that allowed him to act in contempt of court. His attorney is being investigated for his unprofessional conduct and on-going litigation abuse, which has cost nearly $20,000 to date. Letters to Senators, Congressional representatives, even Michigan's Attorney General reveal a system that protects abusers and punishes survivors.
She needs our help. All contributions will go directly to her attorney to fund her fight for justice. Thank you.
