Adley’s Road to Recovery ❤️
Donation protected
We have had many requests for how our family could use assistance or if we had a go fund me, so we have decided to start one for those interested in how to help cover medical bills, transportation fees, parking fees and meals while Adley is going through treatment.
On Monday January 7, 2019 Adley’s Pediatrition sent us to Lurie Children’s hospital in Chicago because he was having rapid eye movements and was so shaky and unsteady that he was unable to walk and crawl on his own. After being evaluated in the ER he was admitted to the hospital on speculation of having a rare disease called OMS. After an MRI of his brain and CT scan of his chest and pelvis, results showed an encapsulated tumor (neuroblastoma) in his chest, which was causing his OMS. Doctors determined the tumor needed to be removed surgically to eliminate Adley’s OMS symptoms.
Adley had surgery on Tuesday January 15th to remove his neuroblastoma. The doctors were able to remove the entire tumor lapriscopically making for an easier recovery for Adley. According to his postsurgical MBGI scan Adley is considered cancer free right now, however, will need to be monitored for the rest of his life with scans and doctors appointments.
Adley will have postsurgical treatment including; 5 monthly treatments of low dose chemo, daily steroids, scans, antibiotics, blood draws and IVIG treatments. Adley will have a scan every 3 months for the first year at least.
