The terms of being a recipient of Ontario Disability Support Program state that I can receive up to $10,000 per year in 'gifts' from family and friends to supplement my ODSP.
So I am asking for assistance in the form of that extra gift money from you, my family and friends, to help me and my close family - my son, my disabled cat, and my friendly little dog.
After my monthly rent payment, I am left with just $219, so the extra money will be useful for helping to provide me with groceries, cat food, dog food, vet bills, new clothes, and other necessities that money can provide.
I also would like to pay off my $4000 debt  to Revenue Canada.  This has been hanging over my head for 12 years and I can't pay it.
It may be helpful to share the reasons why I am on ODSP. It's a long story, but I will try to be brief. My health problems originate from very early childhood trauma. Symptoms started to show at 15 when I began self harming and developing clinical depression and anxiety, which worsened over the years until I had my 1st nervous breakdown at 21. I had been working part time from 16 when I was not in school, but now I was unable to work at all, and doing anything was difficult or impossible due to mental confusion, extremely painful emotional states, suicidal depression, debilitating anxiety, and other frightening symptoms. My condition gradually improved until at 25 I came down with a very severe post natal depression. Through self-help, sheer will power and something you may call the grace of God, I survived this and gradually over 5 years I was restored to my normal levels of depression, anxiety and emotional turmoil. At age 37 I worked for 10 hours a week for $9 an hour, for 6 months. Gradually my health condition continued to improve until I was able to become self-employed and come off ODSP. However, after 6 months a new symptom arose where I became so fatigued that I slept for up to 16 hours a day. I struggled on with work until I was no longer able to earn enough to support myself, and went back on benefits. My fatigue has continued for 12 years during which time I survived a suicide attempt. Most of the time I have not had to resort to begging on the street. As my periods of better health are few, far between, and unreliable, I still require government benefits, and because these benefits are so meager, with the additional help of family and friends, maybe I can do something marginally better than mere survival.
     Thank you.
