Assist the Taniguchi's recover

As many of you know, on July 3, 2017, one of our own suffered a tragedy at home. While out tutoring and having a family date night with her husband, Claudia Taniguchi and her husband, Jesse, received a phone call from the fire department who informed them that their new home of only three months had caught on fire. When the dust settled, it was clear the fire had gutted the house leaving it inhabitable for between six to nine months as repairs and restoration needed to occur.

 

            While everyone is safe, this tragedy, as in any fire, left Claudia and Jesse without a home, clothes, personal mementos, and simply a true sense of safety, Therefore, as the Mercy community, I am reaching out to all of you to assist Claudia and Jesse during this time of need.

 

            Each and every day, Claudia tirelessly assists the students and truly gives most of her day to assist our wonderful ladies. Many of you do not know, but it is not uncommon for Claudia to continue to assist students long after they have left Mercy either emotionally or through helping them with other means including helping some find places to live, a mode of transportation, or being a “parental” figure to them. Now she needs our help.

 

            Although insurance covers some immediate concerns and replacement of necessities lost in the fire, any assistance we can give Claudia and Jesse during this time of need would be greatly appreciated as they try to restart their lives together. Any assistance we can give them will help with this rebuilding of their lives and especially Jesse as he attempts to recover and ascertain the unique, original Greek novels/primary sources he relied on for his dissertation which were lost in the fire. Both are looking forward to returning to a “normal” daily life and any assistance we can provide them would be helpful!
