<div>On Wednesday the 23rd Ted and Sally were celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary. In the evening he described an odd feeling in his leg. Seven hours later he was in critical condition with necrotizing fasciitis, a destructive bacteria that moves fast. The bacteria raced through the tissue of his lower body and into his blood. He was septic, and his kidneys slowed down. All of his organs were impacted by the infected blood. Ted suffered a long, slow heart attack, and terrible pain. He has undergone multiple surgeries since being admitted to the hospital. He remains in critical condition but he is stabilizing. As you know, Ted is stubborn and we believe he will continue to improve and can prevail.

<div>As Ted recovers he is looking at a lengthy hospital stay, time at a rehabilitation facility, and a stay at Harborview Medical Center for skin grafts. He will have long term changes as a result of this illness. As such, Ted and Sally will need to remodel their home to accommodate his needs. Conversion construction, to include widening doors and adding ramps, will be necessary so Ted can get back to his piano at the earliest possible moment. This soulful man, this Big Heart Walking, is going to be walking different now, and it's going to be a soul-journey to get there.
