Assist Mama Holiday in Overcoming Disaster
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mary, also known as “Aunt Pearl” or “Mama Holiday” to most. I am a widowed, stage 3 ovarian cancer survivor, and senior citizen from Houston, Texas. I am seeking assistance to help me, and my daughter rebuild my home.
On May 16, 2024, our lives were turned upside down when a tornado hit Houston, Texas. We received the weather alert on our phones and quickly rushed to a safe place in our home. We heard a huge boom, water falling, and saw sheetrock and other items flying. Some of the sheetrock unfortunately hit my daughter causing concussion-like symptoms and consistent pain in her right shoulder. Our clothing and personal items were destroyed, so we had to leave our house wearing whatever we had on.
After the tornado passed, we discovered that a massive pine tree fell on our house causing the ceilings to cave in two out of three bedrooms and damaged some of the ceiling in the hallway. There are cracks in the ceiling of the third bedroom, washroom, and restroom along with water damage throughout the house causing a terrible smell along with mold/mildew, maggots, and other bugs. The house is currently uninhabitable. The costs to replace our personal items (clothes, shoes, food, furniture, electronics, appliances, etc.), pay for living expenses, transportation, removal of tree/debris, and to rebuild our house are overwhelming, and we need your help to cover the expenses.
Any contributions no matter how small will make a huge difference. We appreciate your support during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
