My mom is in a real pickle. Well, my family has been going through a particularly rough spot lately. It’s just Mom and I. We lived together for several years after Mom needed more help following a liver transplant. She’s diabetic and also in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. But my own health problems mean I’m now confined to a bed at a skilled nursing facility and not at home with her. Since Mom can’t live alone she needs to move into an assisted living facility (ALF).
Mom has a good insurance plan to help defray monthly expenses but it turns out ALFs don’t deal directly with insurance companies. We have to pay the ALF and then get reimbursed from the insurance company.
But we don’t have the thousands of dollars needed to pay the ALF for the first couple of months until the reimbursement kicks in. Nor do we have the funds to afford to move her. Mom needs help.
It’s killing our pride and sense of independence to ask for this help. We are happy to work to pay back any large donations. Just say the word! All donations are gratefully appreciated!
