Hi, and welcome to our fundraising page.
My name is Lisa Perkins, and I created this fundraiser to support my brother-in-law and sister, Jeff and Susan Howard. Over the past several years, Jeff has endured numerous medical procedures due to severe wounds on his right leg that would not heal. Throughout this time, many treatments and interventions were tried in hopes of restoring healing and mobility.
Unfortunately, after several surgeries and procedures in the past six months, doctors ultimately determined that Jeff’s right lower leg could not be saved. He recently underwent a below-the-knee amputation. While this decision was made with his long-term health in mind, it has also brought significant new challenges.
Susan has worked tirelessly to prepare their home for Jeff’s return, making it as wheelchair accessible as possible to help him move safely around the house. However, one major obstacle remains: the steps leading to both the front and back entrances, which make it extremely difficult for Jeff to get in and out of the home independently.
We are hoping to raise funds to install a ramp that will allow Jeff safe access to the house and enable him to get to the car for the many follow-up appointments he will have once he returns home from rehab. Just as importantly, this ramp will give Jeff the freedom to leave the house, helping prevent him from feeling isolated and supporting his mental and emotional well-being as he continues his recovery journey.
Jeff has already been measured for a prosthetic lower leg, but he still has significant healing before he is able to use it. This ramp will be a crucial step in helping him regain independence during this time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our family’s story. Please consider sharing this page with others, as every bit of support helps more than you know.
With much love,
Lisa D. Perkins
