<div>I met Scott 18 years ago.  We've been together ever since.  Scott was my best friend and partner and was one of the most intelligent people I've ever met.  There was never a time when he wasn't learning something new, whether it was an instrument, a new art form, a game, or topic of study.  He would take these deep dives into a subject and learn everything there was to know about it.  Simply because he was curious.

<div>And he was so very sweet.  Every time I would walk into a room, he would smile at me.  It didn't matter if I had been away for 10 minutes for 10 hours, I would get that smile.  I loved that smile.  And, he loved me.  There has never been a moment of doubt about that.  That man loved to make me laugh.

<div>Scott passed away on the morning of June 11th.  I wasn't ready.  I never would have been ready.  He'd been fighting the after-effects of a stroke for over 3 months, and he just lost the fight.  I'm a bit lost without him.

<div>The reason for this fundraiser is because Scott didn't have a job there at the end.  Of course he didn't.  And, he had no life insurance or anything that would help me cover the costs that are already starting to pile up, on the day after his death.  So, we need help covering all of that.  He's being cremated and we're taking his ashes home to Missouri.  We need help covering those costs.  In addition, I fully expect a whole line of bills to start piling up in the next few months.  We'll need help with those.
