Dear Family and Friends,
My oh my, time really does fly. I’ve been meaning to send this out for a while now, and I want to start by saying I truly apologize for not sharing sooner. Earlier this year, I had every intention of returning to Haiti with Chiromissions in March. It was something I felt deeply called to. But between finances, school demands, and the weight of clinic, I had to make the hard decision to pause. It was not easy, but it was necessary for the season I was in.
Still, I held onto hope that if it was meant to be, the opportunity would come back around and it has. This August, I have been blessed with another chance to serve in Haiti. This trip is not just a box to check or a school requirement. It is about reuniting with a community that welcomed me with so much love, continuing relationships that were started, and showing up not just as a student doctor but as a human being willing to serve, to love, to listen, and to learn.
Right now, I am in Tri 9, almost at the finish line of my chiropractic journey with 6 months remaining, and this moment feels like a bridge between where I have been and where I am going. These mission trips have changed me. Not just through the hands-on experience but through the miracles I have witnessed. Breath returning, spirits lifting, nervous systems restoration. The kind of healing that reminds you God is real and love. It has humbled me, shaped me, and reminded me that the power of this work is not in what I do, but in the intention I carry.
To make this trip possible, I am raising $2,500 to help cover travel, housing, and meals. With all that is on my plate like national boards, seminar fees, clinic requirements, and post-grad planning, any support whether through prayer, donation, or even just sharing this means the world to me. This is so much bigger than me. It always has been.
Thank you for being a part of my story. Here is the link if you would like to read more or support in any way: Chiromissions
With love always,
Achina Gilliam
